My name is Skylar Peak and I am a third generation resident of Malibu. My grandparents settled here in Malibu during the 1950s and I believe Malibu must retain its historical charm and rural environment. As your City Councilman, I am committed to working with our community to protect and preserve our home, its natural beauty, safety, history, and way of life.
As your City Councilman, I'll continue working for you with the same dedication as when you first elected me in 2012. I am committed to improving our schools. As a father and graduate of Malibu schools, I understand the opportunities and challenges facing our children. I've served on the board of the Malibu Boys and Girls Club and have experienced first hand that good education requires local focus. I am committed to strengthening that local focus and improving our public schools here in Malibu.
As an avid environmentally conscious waterman, I will continue my environmental commitment improved water quality and preserving open space for future generations. Implementing proven solutions to clean up our oceans, mountains, and watershed and to protect the wildlife and marine life are vital to protecting the Malibu I share with my children and friends.
I own and operate a small family-run electrical construction business that my father, Dusty Peak, founded in Malibu in 1978, Peak Power Electric. My parents taught me the value of hard work and that responsibility for the community begins at home.
In addition, I am a professional surf instructor, trained as an EMT, and have worked as a Lifeguard for the Los Angeles County Fire Deparment at Zuma Beach for many years. I grew up in the ocean and we must be mindful of this precious resource. We must also improve the traffic flow and safety on Pacific Coast Highway.
I am open-minded, a good listener, a proven leader, and will keep Malibu a great place to raise a family. I am running again to be your voice on City Hall.
Please re-elect me to Malibu City Council, and together we can save Malibu.
